There are a lot of therapy approaches and treatments - CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), etc. It can be confusing to try and determine which therapy approach or treatment style would suit you best, especially for first time therapy goers.
What's most important to know is that I offer therapy approaches or treatment styles that have been shown by science & research to be effective treatments. I have years of specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy, and I integrate those skills with methods of Motivational Interviewing to help clients feel motivated to use behavioral change strategies to help them reach their goals. Finally, I consider it important to highlight people's strengths (Strength-Based Therapy) while helping them identify how to solve their current problems (Solution Focused Brief Therapy).
The Human Factor in Therapy
Finding a therapy approach that is backed by science and research is just the beginning. The essential aspects of therapy are the Human factors. Both mental health problems and solutions are deeply impacted by Human created - social and cultural factors. Our different identities and places in society (race, religion, color, nationality, gender identity and sexual orientation) create both advantages and disadvantages.
I believe successful therapy is possible only when we collaborate with these different human factors, identities and experiences, so that we have a multi-faceted understanding of one's distress and one's potential. I will give you the best scientific strategies within the framework of our intersecting identities to help you feel better and get better. I look forward to collaborating with you on your mental health journey.
